Creating a New Image for Plant-Based Milk Alternatives

Plant-based milk alternatives have become a popular and trendy category in China. While many brands offer single plant-based products, Plant Selected stands out by offering a diverse range of plant-based beverages. With its unique design and international appeal, Plant Selected is redefining the plant milk market.

Plant Selected, designed by Blackandgold Shanghai, aims to differentiate itself from traditional plant-based brands by creating a new brand image. To achieve this, the design team drew inspiration from international plant milk brands that focus on communicating a trendy lifestyle rather than just flavor. The result is a visually striking packaging that captures attention on the shelf.

The key feature of Plant Selected's design is the use of a graffiti-style English font for the product name. This adds a casual and modern touch, enhancing the brand's international feel. The bold strokes around the product name convey vitality and energy, reinforcing the brand's commitment to vegan nutrition.

To further enhance the shelf impact, each product in the Plant Selected range has a fully colored background. This creates a powerful color block that stands out among other plant-based drinks. The choice of green and blue for each product is not only visually impactful but also relevant to the ingredients used, with green representing soya and blue representing oat.

Another eye-catching element of the design is the use of gold accents for the words "soya" and "oat" within the product name. This adds a touch of luxury and reinforces the premium quality of the vegan nutrition offered by Plant Selected.

At the bottom of each packaging, the product benefits are clearly presented, ensuring consumers of the quality and nutritional value of the beverages. This attention to detail and transparency further enhances the brand's credibility and trustworthiness.

The realization of the design is achieved through the use of PET bottles covered with a matte film. This combination creates a sleek and modern look while maintaining the integrity of the product.

Plant Selected's design project started in September 2020 and the products were launched in March 2021. The design team, led by Creative Director Yang Li and Designer Feiteng Wan, worked closely with Managing Director Lei Zhang, Strategic Planner Xincheng Zhuang, and 3D Rendering Specialist Jianhui Chen to bring the vision to life.

The innovative design of Plant Selected has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in Packaging Design. This prestigious award honors designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life. Plant Selected's design stands as a testament to the brand's dedication to providing a trendy and international plant-based beverage option.

With its unique design, international appeal, and commitment to vegan nutrition, Plant Selected is redefining the plant milk market in China.
